WHY WE USE MĀNUKA OIL

WHAT IS MĀNUKA?

Mānuka is a native New Zealand tree, found amongst bush and scrub across the country.

It is more commonly associated with the honey products which share its unique properties with Mānuka Oil, including strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects.

In fact, Mānuka Oil is 1,000x stronger than Mānuka Honey in terms of antibacterial and antimicrobial potency due to the high concentration of bioactive compounds, called triketones.

HOW DO WE SOURCE OUR MĀNUKA?

We’re proud to cultivate a unique regional variant of Manuka on our South Taranaki farm, renowned for its exceptionally high triketone levels.

These trees supply us directly with the premium raw materials we use in every product we make.  It's deeply rewarding to replant native trees once cleared from this whenua, restoring and revitalising our small patch of paradise for future generations.

HOW DO YOU GET MĀNUKA OIL?

All our Mānuka Oil is processed on our farm using a vacuum distillation method, where steam is used to distil the bark, wood and leaves.

This is a unique process which allows the steam to form at a much lower temperature, reducing triketone damage and creating a 100% pure, high-potency, essential Mānuka oil.

WHY MĀNUKA OIL?

There is an ever-expanding list of extraordinary medicinal benefits, including antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties, linked to this veritable super-plant.

For centuries it was used throughout traditional Māori Rongoā practice to treat internal and external ailments, fight infection, help heal wounds, soothe pain and reduce inflammation.

In more modern times, scientific studies have verified this indigenous knowledge, uncovering the host of antimicrobial properties that make Mānuka Oil such an effective, multipurpose topical treatment.
